One of our favorite Mountains for acclimatization and ideal for mountaineering courses. Also for those people who have a short stay in the city of Huaraz. The Mountain Contraherbas (Mateo) 5180m. It is one of the closest Mountains to the city of Huaraz and is part of the Contrahierbas massif in the Cordillera Blanca. From the summit you can see a large part of the Cordillera Blanca, and impressive mountains such as Huascaran, Chopicalqui, Chacraraju, Contrahierbas, Copa, Hualcan and Ulta.

Itinerary

Day 01: Huaraz - Punta Olímpica 4,750 mts - Cumbre de Mateo 5,180 mts - Huaraz

City of Huaraz 3,100 meters – City of Carhuaz 2,650 meters – Punta Olímpica 4,750 meters – Cumbre de Mateo 5,180 meters – (3 hours of ascent and descent and 6 hours of transportation)

Departure from the city of Huaraz at 4:00 am. Heading north from the city of Huaraz, traveling along the Callejón de Huaylas to the city of Carhuaz, taking the detour towards the Ulta valley to the place called Punta Olimpica 4750 m. Here we will begin to walk ascending some rock terraces until we reach the entrance to the glacier. Once on the glacier we will use the rope and mountain equipment to ascend to the summit of Mountain Mateo 5180 m. Here we will have 30 minutes of rest and then descend to the transport that will be waiting for us to return to the city of Huaraz.
